My Long Awaited Pursuit of Art

Hi, I'm Alexa, thank you for taking the time to read my story.

After several years of working in healthcare, I found myself in a management position, and as a result, was profoundly feeling the effects of healthcare burnout. I was searching for something that would help me reconnect with my creativity and joy. Little did I know, pottery would become that thing for me. I've studied and practiced various forms of art for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't until I took a pottery class for my birthday in 2024 that I discovered ceramics.

Since then, I have become more involved with the many talented potters throughout the greater San Diego area and have fallen even more in love with the craft. Pottery has provided such an outlet throughout my personal mental health journey and recovery from burnout. Pottery has taught me, and continues to teach me so much. The beauty of letting go, embracing imperfection, and appreciating the unpredictability of life.

I’ve learned that life is too short to let fear or uncertainty keep you from connecting with what genuinely brings you joy. I hope that my pieces can bring a little bit of that joy into the homes of others. I also hope my story can inspire others to care for themselves in a similar way. So thank you for being here and for supporting my creative journey.
